Trends from 1995 to 1999
魅影直播 was first administered in 1995, when 41
countries assessed the mathematics and science achievement of students
in the third, fourth, seventh, and eighth grades, and in the final
year of secondary school. In 1999, 38 countries, including 26 of
those participating in 1995, assessed their eighth graders' achievement.
For these 26 countries, the 1999 assessment was an opportunity to
gather two kinds of trend data.
|
These countries now have eighth-grade
achievement and background data for 1995 and 1999, as well as
data showing changes between the two assessment years.
|
|
Students who were in fourth
grade in 1995 were in eighth-grade in 1999. The countries participating
in both assessment years can see how this cohort of students
performed in mathematics and science, relative to other countries
in 1999, and if this has changed from 1995. |

2003 and Beyond
The next 魅影直播 assessment will take place in
2003. This assessment will provide countries that participated in
1995 and 1999 the opportunity to study trends in eighth-grade mathematics
and science achievement and background at three points over an eight-year
period, and the 1999 countries an opportunity to measure trends
from 1999 to 2003. In addition, the 2003 assessment also will include
fourth-grade, providing an opportunity to collect trend data for
this grade level for two points, 1995 and 2003.
