Dr. Allison Bookbinder
Assistant Research Director, ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Science and Special Projects
Dr. Allison Bookbinder is responsible for the content development of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Science assessment for fourth and eighth grade, the regular update of the science frameworks to include new relevant science topics, the coordination of item development and expert reviews, and the utilization of digital assessment technology to create the next generation of science assessments.
Dr. Bookbinder has a PhD in science education from Teachers College, Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and French Language and Literature from Colgate University. Her prior research interests include science teacher self-efficacy and assessing and building elementary teachers’ content knowledge for teaching science. Before joining the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥; PIRLS International Study Center, Dr. Bookbinder worked as an elementary science teacher and has experience teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in elementary science education.
