Science Achievement in the Primary School Years: IEA's Third International Mathematics and Science Report

This report presents science achievement results for students in the two grades with the largest proportion of 9-year-olds – the third and fourth grades in most countries – across 26 countries. Special emphasis is placed on the fourth-grade results, including selected information about students' background and classroom practices in teaching science. Comparisons with achievement at the eighth-grade are also presented.
